Tachlite, HP's PCI and HSC fiber channel adapters, improves storage area network (SAN) performance and efficiency. Available on HP-UX 11.0 and later for Superdome, V-, N-, L-, A-, K-, D-, and R-Class systems, Tachlite is available through an HP upgrade program for those who purchased the prior fiber channel adapter. Tachlite dramatically increases the performance of HP 9000's SAN, resulting in 66% lower CPU utilization during I/O cycles. The new interface also offers full support for peripherals and online addition/replacement (OLAR) with HP-UX 11i on supported platforms. Tachlite expands HP 9000 capabilities in the SAN by supporting SANs on the existing fiber channel arbitrated loop, enabling the server to participate in switched SANs and providing functionality on the existing interface, while improving its quality.
